The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the JEE Main 2026 registration window will open in October 2025. Ahead of the application process, the agency has issued an important advisory urging aspirants to update and verify their Aadhaar details, UDID (for PwD candidates), and category certificates.
According to the notice, even small discrepancies between Aadhaar and school records — such as spelling errors, incorrect date of birth, or outdated photographs — can cause problems during verification. Candidates are advised to check and correct these details well before starting the application.
What to update
- Aadhaar Card: Ensure name, date of birth, photograph, father’s name, and address exactly match Class 10 records.
- UDID Certificate: PwD applicants must hold a valid, renewed certificate. Expired or outdated documents may lead to disqualification.
- Category Certificates: Candidates applying under SC, ST, OBC-NCL or EWS must present updated certificates with correct issuing authority and date.
Why this matters
In previous years, many applications were flagged due to mismatched or invalid documents, delaying admission processes. With JEE Main conducted twice a year — in January and April 2026 — the NTA aims to reduce such errors and ensure smoother processing.
Education experts note that the early advisory is meant to prevent last-minute panic. “By updating Aadhaar and category papers in advance, candidates can avoid rejections or complications during counseling,” said a senior coaching faculty.
Next steps for students
- Visit UIDAI or local Aadhaar centres to make corrections, if needed.
- Renew UDID certificates immediately if they are expired.
- Ensure caste and EWS certificates are valid for the 2025–26 admission cycle.
- Keep scanned copies of photograph, signature, and documents ready in the prescribed format.
- Rely only on nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in for official bulletins and instructions.
With registration opening next month, timely preparation of documents will be as crucial as exam readiness itself. The NTA has emphasized that students who update their details now will face a smoother application process and fewer risks of rejection.
