Who Is Jeffrey Epstein & What Did He Do?

American billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in a US prison cell on Saturday. Epstein was facing charges of sexually abusing minor girls.

Epstein has befriended high profile people such as current US President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew. He refused to accept sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. He was in jail since his arrest on July 6.

Some US media reports say Epstein hanged himself in his cell in a New York prison and his body was found at 7.30 am local time. While others say that he suffered a heart attack in the early hours of Saturday, he was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

He died at a time when documents revealed in New York a day earlier revealed the extent to which he had sexually abused young girls in his home in New York and Virgin Iceland.

Epstein was accused of paying girls as young as 18 for sex activities between 2002 and 2005 in their Manhattan and Florida residences.

Epstein was found unconscious in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York three weeks ago, following which he was being monitored for fear of suicide. There were scars on his neck, which seemed like a sign of an attempt to commit suicide or an attack in jail. Epstein was convicted in a Florida case in 2008 on prostitution charges for buying girls up to 18 years old.
